Dr. Shelby Smyly is a Northwest native from Spokane, WA. She grew up surrounded by animals of all shapes and sizes and knew early that she was going to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. Dr. Shelby Smyly headed south to California for college, receiving her undergraduate degree in Animal Science at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She went on to receive her veterinary degree in Philadelphia from University of Pennsylvania, School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018. Dr. Shelby Smyly started off her career at a 24-hour emergency practice. When she realized her passion for companion animal preventative medicine and fostering long-term client relationships, she decided to make the switch to general practice. As a “Fear-Free Certified” vet, Dr. Shelby Smyly focuses on alleviating or reducing anxiety and fear, associated with veterinary visits. In her free time, you can find her hitting the slopes on her skis, exploring Oregon’s wild coasts and mountains with her husband or playing fetch with her cat Trinity.
