Dr. Tom Van Meter
Dr. Van Meter is from Western Oklahoma. He got his DVM from KSU. He is married to his wife, Marcia, has 2 grown children, 3 dogs and 2 cats. He has owned Mt. Hood Pet Medical since June, 2009. He has been owner of multiple veterinary practices in Washington and Oregon and is one of the founders of the largest veterinary chains in the U.S. He is a national speaker on Practice Management and enjoys his church and woodworking.
Dr. Edward Richardson
Dr. Richardson is from Oklahoma. He got his DVM from Oklahoma State University in 1981. He is married with 3 grown children and 3 grandchildren. He has been in Oregon for 1 year and Mt. Hood Pet Medical since June 2009. He was an owner of a small animal veterinary practice near Tulsa, Oklahoma for 18 years. He was previously an animal shelter veterinary volunteer for 12 years and did a pathology summer internship as an undergraduate. He enjoys birding, traveling, camping and reading.
Dr. Gary Hunt
Dr. Hunt has practiced small animal medicine and surgery, in the Greater Portland area, since receiving his DVM from Ohio State in 1996. Originally from Ohio, he also holds a BS in Zoology from Ohio State. Some of his hospital training was done at UC Davis. Upon graduating from vet school, Dr Hunt returned west and began practice at Laurelhurst Veterinary Hospital, where he practiced for 5 years. Later, he practiced for 7 years at Barbur Blvd Veterinary Hospital, as a general practitioner, in a general and cardiology practice. His wife, Tracy Waechter, is also a DVM. They live with their daughter, Izabella, and Siamese cat, Chester. Currently between dogs, a new puppy is in the works for 2012. In his spare time, Dr. Hunt enjoys fishing and plays guitar and mandolin. His professional interests include geriatrics, dermatology, and feline medicine.
Dr. Nicole Van Abel
Dr. Nicole Van Abel obtained her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and has recently moved to Oregon. She is certified in veterinary acupuncture and Chinese Medicine. Her professional interests include primary care, senior pet care, internal medicine, and surgery. She lives with her fiancé C.K. and her Akita mix named Keith Richards. In her free time she enjoys gardening, yoga, traveling, and exploring all the outdoor trails in this area. Dr. Van Abel is looking forward to getting to know the clients and pets of Mt. Hood Pet Medical!
